Antelope I couldn't believe all the antelope we saw! (Apparently they are really in the deer family. Some woman on the train to the Grand Canyon lectured me on how they aren't antelope when I pointed one out to Connie and said, "There's an antelope". After she concluded a 5 minute dissertation I asked her, "Their name is the Pronghorn Antelope, right?" ... Bite me) Anyway we must have seen a hundred of these ??? within couple of hundred yards of the road. I'd told Connie that when I used to come to Idaho I'd see these darn things like this. I saw more wildlife along WY 120 and US 20 than I did in Yellowstone.Lot's more bikers heading to Sturgis as the first picture shows. They're coming from every where. We turned off I-25 on US 20 to head over to Chandron and ran into a bunch. I didn't realize that all roads lead to Sturgis. And the prices of everything nearby soar outta site. Like tonight's room in the middle of nowhere ... $130 ... American. That is what I paid in San Fran.
It never ceases to amaze me that when you think it's going to be boring something pops up like The Wind River Canyon outside Thermopolis, WY. The canyon pictures are of this canyon. Northwest Nebraska is no sleeper either as the pictures that follow the State sign show. And then there is ...
COAL I have never seen so many trains all carrying coal. They seem to be heading out of Wyoming into Nebraska for who knows where. The trains that are returning towards Wyoming are empties. Each train has about 100 cars with two lead locomotives and two pushers (they might not even turn around just reverse direction after the coal is dumped. There were maybe 5 complete trains, loaded with coal, stationed about 1 mile apart, on the same track waiting for who knows what. Truly unbelievable! I asked a couple of folks but they didn't know. I'll research it.
Found a great place to eat in Chandron, Hellen's. 1 pound of prime rib, yes 1 pound for $13.95. If I can get out of bed tomorrow we are off to Grand Island, NE
